In addition to the oil paintings on canvas and wood panels, my practice includes outdoor sketching and photography, scribbling notes, writing poems and lyrics, making mockups on my phone or in Photoshop and mixed media work on paper.
Music is a vital part of what I do. Sometimes the paintings are directly inspired by what I’m listening to and sometimes the paintings spark off ideas for song writing. I created a whole album of ambient music inspired by the landscapes of Leicestershire and Derbyshire that was played at my solo exhibition at The Old Lock Up Gallery in Cromford in 2023. Not surprisingly the art studio is also a music studio so I can quickly move from music to art and back again.
